Rana Inder Partap Singh files his nomination papers as Independent Candidate from Sultanpur Lodhi

Thousands of people forcibly accompanied him for filing the papers

SULTANPUR LODHI, FEBRUARY 1, 2022: Finally, Rana Inder Partap Singh, son of Cabinet Minister Raja Gurjit Singh today filed his nomination papers from Sultanpur Lodhi assembly segment as an independent candidate.

As soon as, he headed towards the office of Returning Officer (RO) to file his papers, thousands of people started accompanying him while shouting slogan “Jithe Rana, Othe Jana “(Will go there, where Rana is”, which virtually ensured the massive victory of the Rana Inder Partap Singh.

Although, several volunteers of Rana Inder Partap Singh were deployed to stop people from accompanying him to avoid the Election as well as COVID norms, but all attempts were proved futile in front of overwhelming and enthusiastic netizens of the constituency.

All roads leading towards the RO office were blocked due to the beeline of enthusiastic people, but all of them were instructed to remain outside of the premises, where Rana Inder Partap Singh entered with the set of his documents along with his close family members only.

Asked what is special in your kitty for Sultanpur Lodhi, Rana Inder Partap Singh said “I will enable the revival of the Jabbowal Institute of the area, which is virtually idle for the last several years, educational courses for super-specialised to make it job-oriented will be initiated for the benefits of the youth of the constituency.

“It is my dream to open an hi-tech and ultra-modern health centre in the constituency, where treatment for all deceases will be provided”, Rana Inder Partap said adding that retired Super-Specialised Retired Doctors of PGI, of every field would be appointed for at least five years to provide treatment to the people under one-roof of Health Centre.

“I will not put any burden on the State Ex-chequer to run this Health Centre, rather all arrangements will be from our side by using our companies CSR”, he hastened to add.

Addressing the media, a humble human by nature, Rana Partap Singh said “my eyes are full of tears after watching the love and affection of people in my support and I wish the Congress High Command could also have felt the same before deciding the party’s official candidate.

“I’m not a rebel candidate. I am standing up for people who have faced oppression due to false FIRs, which were registered by the local MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, whose deposits will definitely be forfeited” Rana Inder said when asked what forced him to contest the election as an Independent, in spite of the fact that his father is a Cabinet Minister.

“I will be contesting as an independent from Sultanpur Lodhi,” Rana Inder Partap said, adding he had applied for the party ticket but the Congress gave it to Navtej Cheema, which was obviously a “wrong choice” by the Congress party.

“I am working in the area for the past 2-3 months and when I started meeting the people at the ground, pictures of highhandedness, repression, prevailing corruption and drug problems came up, which forced me to take the decision to contest the election to get free the people of constituency from the reign of terror and repression.

He claimed that the block samiti members, the Zila Parishad chairman and the sarpanches of the area have extended their full support to him and asked him to contest from the Sultanpur Lodhi assembly seat.

He further alleged that the development funds came for this constituency in the wake of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. “But a major part of these funds were misappropriated and people of this constituency were upset over it,” he alleged.

Rana Gurjit backs his son, saying he decided to contest after touring the constituency and gauging the anger against Cheema. It’s not a rebellion, he insists, for once he wins, Rana Inder would back the Congress. For now, things don’t look good for the Congress, the minister admits, but says it’s his son who would win.

“Media asked me why you are contesting against Congress, when your father Rana Gurjit Singh is Cabinet Minister and Congress nominee from Kapurthala. Here I want to clear it, I am not against Congress, rather want to save Congress by winning the seat and support the people of the constituency”, Rana Inder added.

 “Me and my family will always stand with the people of Sultanpur Lodhi and prove our mettle to save them from the rein of police torture and corruption”, Rana Inder Pratap Singh vowed.
