Kashmir Singh Malhi took over as the new chairman of Improvement Trust, Phagwara, on Monday in the presence of Cabinet Ministers Balkar Singh, Bram Shanker Jimpa, and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. Singh also congratulated him on his new responsibility.

Malhi expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP leadership for appointing him as Chairman. He stated that he would work with dedication and commitment to further improve the city. The newly appointed Chairman mentioned that all-out efforts would be made to ensure facilities for the general public. He emphasized that people’s grievances would be addressed within a stipulated time frame and pledged to take strict action against corruption and inefficiency.

Meanwhile, Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh said that the Chairman would make sincere efforts to provide basic amenities and infrastructure to the city’s residents. He highlighted the historic decisions taken by the Punjab government led by CM Bhagwant Mann for the state’s development and the welfare of its people. He also listed the achievements of the AAP government during its tenure, including providing 600 units of free electricity, establishing AAP clinics, creating nearly 40,000 government jobs for young people, and implementing reforms in the education sector. He noted that a special drive against the drug menace had already been initiated, which was yielding positive results.

The Local Government Minister also assured that concerted efforts would be made in the future to ensure further development in Phagwara. Prominent figures present on the occasion included Kapurthala Improvement Trust Chairman Gurpal Singh Indian, District Planning Committee Chairperson Lalita Saklani, AAP Leader Sajjan Singh Cheema, and others.
