In a significant development, Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced a substantial crackdown on an international drug cartel. The Punjab Police, under the leadership of CP Jalandhar, successfully dismantled the cartel, leading to the arrest of three individuals in possession of 5 kilograms of opium.
The operation uncovered a sophisticated network facilitated by multiple smugglers utilising International Courier Services to distribute narcotics to recipients in the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.
Filing a First Information Report (FIR) under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, authorities have launched comprehensive investigations to trace the intricate backward and forward linkages of the cartel.
