Punjab Police Arrests Terror Operative Prabhpreet Singh from Delhi Airport”

CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, April 12: Amidst the ongoing drive against terrorism, State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar has busted a terrorist recruitment, funding and aiding module with the arrest of Germany-based operative Prabhpreet Singh Sidhu from IGI Airport in Delhi, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.
SSOC Amritsar received secret information
In 2020, SSOC Amritsar received secret information that KZF terrorist Jagdish Singh Bhura was planning to hit some high-profile targets in Punjab. He had provided weapons and financial support to his associates based in India to accomplish this task.
Punjab Police took swift action and busted the module by arresting four operatives of this organization and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession. Police Station State Special Operation Cell, Amritsar registered case FIR No. 18, dated 19.12.2020 under sections 13, 17, 18, 18-B, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and section 25 of the Arms Act.
Arrested Suspects Linked to Wanted Terrorists
“DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized that during investigations, the arrested accused persons divulged that they were operating under the instructions of wanted terrorist Jagdish Singh Bhura and his close-aide Prabhpreet Singh. Additionally, the arrested individuals disclosed their plans to target high-profile entities.
“Punjab Police swiftly acted on this information by naming Prabhpreet in the case and issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him via the Bureau of Immigration, New Delhi, due to his residence in Germany. “On Wednesday, immigration authorities at IGI Airport Delhi informed us about the detention of Prabhpreet Singh. Subsequently, a team of SSOC Amritsar rushed to Delhi and arrested the accused,” stated the DGP.
AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann provided further details, mentioning that preliminary investigations revealed Prabhpreet traveled to Poland on a valid visa in 2017 and entered Germany by road in 2020. He also applied for political asylum to attain permanent residence in Germany.”
“While living in Germany, the accused, Prabhpreet, came in touch with Belgium-based KZF terrorist Jagdish Singh Bhura and became involved in anti-national activities,” stated the AIG. “The accused arranged funding and weapons for his Indian associate to carry out targeted killings and other disruptive activities.”
“The AIG added that ongoing investigations aim to uncover the entire network associated with Prabhpreet and the module he operates for. In the meantime, police teams have obtained remand for accused Prabhpreet until April 15, 2024, following his court appearance.”
