Punjab Govt Transferred 19.83 Cr Incentive to 17007 Farmers
CM Mann led Govt committed to save precious ground water, says Gurmeet Singh Khudian
Chandigarh, January 5: Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Friday, transferred Rs. 19.83 Crore into the bank accounts of 17007 farmers, who had opted Direct Sowing Rice (DSR) in Kharif season 2023.
Disclosing this here today, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that a total of 19,114 farmers have registered 1,72,049 acres on the DSR portal during 2023-24. After the verification done by concerned district officials, a total of 18,931 farmers and 133745.67 acres of land under DSR was verified by the officials concerned.
- Gurmeet Singh Khudian highlighted the proactive approach of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government in promoting water conservation among farmers through the adoption of Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) practices. In line with this initiative, the government announced an attractive incentive of Rs. 1500 per acre for farmers opting to sow paddy directly without transplanting during the current fiscal year (2023-24). The pledged incentive has now been successfully disbursed to farmers’ accounts using the Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT) system.Following a meticulous verification process, a substantial sum of Rs. 19.83 Crore has been credited to the accounts of beneficiary farmers, indicating a commendable 98.8% completion in the payment disbursement. The remaining payments are slated for swift transfer in the near future, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting and rewarding farmers for embracing sustainable agricultural practices.
