Punjab Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Tuesday announced that Punjab Government would soon send a proposal to Union Government for naming Halwara International Airport after Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha as a tribute to legendary revolutionary of the country.
Presiding over the state level function organized to commemorate 106th Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha in his ancestral village, Cabinet Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said that the state government would soon urge the central government by sending a proposal.
He added that it would be tribute to youngest martyr of the country who attained martyrdom at the age of 19 years.
On the proposal of Senior Congress leader Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu, the Minister assured that Dakha’s new bus stand would be named after martyr’s name and the proposal in this regard would be taken up in today’s cabinet meeting.
Further, he announced a daily bus service of Punjab Roadways directly from Ludhiana to Sarabha village. Besides, a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the development of village from his own discretionary funds.
Warring said that he would try to fulfill the footsteps of the greatest martyr of the country and would ever remain indebted to the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice.
The sacrifice made by the martyr Kartar Singh Sarabha would ever act as a beacon to inspire the youth to serve the nation.
Senior leader of Congress Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu thanked the cabinet minister for accepting the demands of sending proposal to central government for naming Halwara international airport and Dakha bus stand on martyr’s name.
He said that the state government is committed for the development of the ancestral village of legendary hero of country who got martyrdom at such a young age.
Later, the Minister along with Capt Sandeep Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Ludhiana (Rural) SSP Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu and several others, visited the ancestral house of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha and paid tributes to the martyr.
On the occasion, the Cabinet Minister was also felicitated by the Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Sports Club.
