Punjab Government establishes 4 new laboratories to conduct free of cost dengue test
Chandigarh, May 16:
Punjab Health Minister Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu dedicated 4 new Laboratories for free testing of Dengue to the people of the State on the occasion of National Dengue Day on 16th May. The new labs have been made functional at Sub-divisional Hospital Kharar, Rajpura, Abohar and Jagraon.
Sidhu informed that with inclusion of these 4 labs, Punjab has now 39 laboratories in State for free testing of Dengue and Chikungunya. State has already procured testing kits for all the laboratories and all labs are testing for Dengue.
Health Minister appealed to the people of the State that transmission season of Dengue has started in the State and people should cooperate in preventing dengue during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19. He said that the mosquito for transmission of dengue (Aedes) breeds in clean water and develops to and adult mosquito in a week so all water containers like coolers, empty bottles, drums, trays of referigerators should be emptied once a week. Govt. of Punjab has already declared every Friday as Dry Day.
Sidhu also released posters and face masks for Dengue for public awareness on National Dengue Day. He was accompanied by Dr Gurinder Bir Singh, Director Health Services and Dr Gagandeep Singh Grover, State Programme Officer NVBDCP on this occasion.
