Chandigarh, December 30: Punjab Government responded to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s clarion call to stop the brain drain. They aim to turn the youth into Job Creation rather than job seekers. The government has provided around fifty thousand regular jobs in various state government departments. They have also gone the extra mile to make the state youth skilful. Additionally, they are helping them start their own ventures.
Punjab’s Achievements in Employment & Skill Development
The Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora highlighted the state government’s achievements over two years. He also highlighted the achievements over 9 months. He stated that 49,949 government jobs have been provided to the youth. This occurred in the first 33 months of its tenure. It is a record in itself. Besides, 2,65,430 candidates received assistance to get jobs in the private sector.
Over 4,725 placement camps were organized across the state to achieve this. Punjab Skill Development Mission has given skill training to 64,427 candidates through various agencies. This includes captive employers, government, and private skill training agencies. They offered courses like automotive machine operator, fitter, and advanced respiratory therapist. Other courses included desludge operator, warehouse packer, general duty assistant, and security guard. Furthermore, they trained courier delivery executives, electricians, beauty therapists, CNC operators, and solar panel technicians. 47,821 candidates were employed following this.

He further informed that career guidance was provided to 8,56,874 candidates. Additionally, 23,917 career talks were delivered in schools and colleges.
They conducted 1,373 self-employment camps. In these camps, 1,77,049 applicants received guidance for obtaining sanction for self-employment loans. This was done to encourage self-employment and entrepreneurship in the state.

Aman Arora informed that the commissioning of 74 cadets from Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute is complete. These cadets have been commissioned as officers.

As many as 64 cadets have joined training academies and 12 cadets are awaiting call up letters. Cadet Armaanpreet Singh of 12th Course AFPI stood 1st in the All-India Order of Merit. Cadet Keshav Singla secured 15th place in the Order of Merit. The NDA -153 course was declassified on October 24 this year. The Technical Entry Scheme (TES)-52 Course merit list was declassified on November 7. In this list, Cadet Karman Singh Talwar of 12th Course AFPI stood 2nd in the All-India Order of Merit.
GIVING WINGS TO DREAMS OF PUNJAB GIRLS
In a yet another decision to empower women of the Punjab, CM S. The Punjab Government plans to open a Centre for Training and Employment of Punjab Youth (C-PYTE) camp. Bhagwant Singh Mann leads this initiative. This camp will be exclusively for girls at Kanjla in Kapurthala district. Female staff will run this camp entirely.
Aman Arora said that the state Government made another path-breaking decision. They established an NDA Preparatory Wing at Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, SAS Nagar. This happened in May 2023 for Punjab girls. The Institute has spurred greater representation of Punjab girls in the Defence Services as commissioned officers.
Lady Cadets Achieve Notable Ranks in Air Force Academy
Recently, two Lady Cadets of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls have achieved notable All India Ranks. One secured 4th rank and the other secured 23rd rank in the Air Force Academy Merit List. The SSBs have recommended six more Lady Cadets for commission in the last two months.In 2024-25, the Institute has trained 90 Lady Cadets for NDA exam and SSB training, he added.
