PUNJAB CM MOURNS PASSING AWAY OF NIRMAL MILKHA SINGH
Chandigarh, June 13:
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday condoled the sad demise of former Captain of Indian Women National Volleyball team Nirmal Milkha Singh (85), the wife of legendary Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, who passed away here this evening at a private hospital in Mohali after a valiant battle against COVID-19. She is survived by her husband, one son and three daughters. Her son Jeev Milkha Singh is also a renowned Golfer.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said, ” I am saddened to learn about the death of one of the iconic volleyball players who brought several laurels for the country thus making every Punjabi proud.”
The remarkable services rendered by Nirmal Milkha Singh as Director of Sports for women, Punjab for promotion of sports would be ever remembered by one and all.
Sharing his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family, relatives and friends, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give courage to bear the huge loss in this hour of grief and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਾਲੀਬਾਲ ਟੀਮ ਦੀ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਅਥਲੀਟ ਉਡਣਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਮਿਲਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਿਲਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ‘ਤੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮੁਹਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਈਵੇਟ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਅੱਜ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੂਝਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਚੱਲ ਵੱਸੇ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪਤੀ, ਇਕ ਬੇਟਾ ਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਗਏ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੇਟਾ ਜੀਵ ਮਿਲ਼ਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੋਟੀ ਦਾ ਗੌਲਫਰ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਿਲਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਡ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਘਾਟਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਵੀ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੁਖੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ, ਸਾਕ-ਸਨੇਹੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦਿਲੀ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਵਿੱਛੜੀ ਰੂਹ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਘੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਕੇ ਸਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਲ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਦੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕੀਤੀ।
