LED BY CM, PUNJAB CABINET GIVES NOD TO EMPANEL 300 SPECIALIST DOCTORS ACROSS 12 KEY SPECIALITIES
Chandigarh, November 28: In a bid to impart quality health services to people across the state, the Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday gave nod to empanel 300 specialist doctors across 12 key specialties.
The Council of Ministers made this decision today in a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the Cabinet also approved the empanelment of 300 specialist doctors. These doctors will cover 12 key specialties, including Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Chest & TB, Surgery, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Anaesthesiology, across Government health facilities. This step will significantly augment specialist availability and improve the quality of secondary healthcare delivery for the people of Punjab. Civil Surgeons at the district level will empanel Specialists. The empanelled Specialists will receive an empanelment fee per patient. This fee covers services such as OPD, IPD, emergency calls, major and minor surgeries, procedures, and other treatments.
Punjab Cabinet Clears Uniform Disciplinary & Appellate Framework
The Cabinet also gave its concurrence to insert Rule 28A. This introduces a Uniform Disciplinary and Appellate Framework under the Punjab Cooperative Societies Rules, 1963. This will ensure removal of duplication of appellate channels. It will avoid conflicting decisions within the same Board or its committees. It will clarify the chain of command in disciplinary proceedings. Appeals will be heard only once within the institution. This will also help in protecting the rights of employees by ensuring due process under a clear, uniform framework. It strengthens institutional accountability by defining authority at each level. Additionally, it brings uniformity and consistency across all apex institutions and central cooperative banks functioning under the cooperative sector in Punjab.
GIVES CONSENT TO FRAME PUNJAB MINOR MINERALS RULES 2013
The Cabinet gave approval to Punjab Minor Minerals Rules 2013. This was in accordance with the Punjab State Minor Minerals (Amendment) Policy, 2025.The government needed to add these new rules and modifications to the existing Punjab Minor Minerals Rules 2013. They are for the allocation of mining rights to Mining Lease Holders of Crusher Mining Sites. Additionally, the modifications apply to Landowner Mining Sites to be allotted in the state.
