PUNJAB POLICE COMMITTED TO MAKING PUNJAB A SAFE AND SECURE STATE AS PER VISION OF CM BHAGWANT SINGH MANN
ACCUSED VIKRAMJIT VICKY WAS INVOLVED IN SENSATIONAL MURDER OF JORDAN IN RAJASTHAN: AIG GURMEET CHAUHAN
CHANDIGARH, December 28: updatpunjab:
In a notable development aligning with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision for Punjab’s safety, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police, led by DGP Gaurav Yadav, apprehended an operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang in Mohali on Thursday.
The apprehended operative, identified as Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky from Satiyewala in Ferozepur, has a criminal background and is wanted in at least 20 cases of heinous crimes across Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, including murder, attempt to murder, Arms Act, and UAPA.
The police teams recovered a Chinese .30 calibre Pistol and eight live cartridges from his possession, along with impounding his Toyota Fortuner car.
DGP Gaurav Yadav explained that based on reliable information, AGTF teams, led by ADGP Promod Ban under AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan’s supervision and headed by DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar, traced and arrested Vicky from an apartment in Mohali’s Sector 91, where he was taking shelter.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused Vicky, with backing from Pakistani agencies, maintained contact with Pakistani-based weapon/drug smugglers through Goldy Brar and Saba (USA) and received consignments of weapons and drugs from across the border. The accused was assigned the task of eliminating a rival gang member of the Davinder Bambiha gang, according to the DGP.
AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan shared additional details, stating that accused Vicky was a shooter/co-accused of deceased gangster Ankit Bhadu in the sensational murder of their rival Jordan at a gym in Ganganagar, Rajasthan, in 2018. After Ankit Bhadu’s neutralization in a police action in February 2019, Vikramjit Vicky assumed his position in the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang, actively participating in criminal activities across Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
Ongoing investigations aim to delve deeper into Vicky’s criminal activities to dismantle the weapon/drug smuggling chain of this gang. A case (FIR number 16 dated 27/12/2023) has been registered under section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station State Crime, SAS Nagar.
