Chandigarh, June 8: The Punjab Government has released an amount of Rs. 91.46 crore as part of its share of the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste (SC) students for the academic year 2023-24. This significant disbursement will benefit 1,17,346 students whose scholarships were pending.
Providing education to SC children is the main priority
Divulging this information, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that providing education to Scheduled Caste children is the main priority of the state government.
Goal of Post Matric Scholarship is to provide assistance
She mentioned that the scheme’s main goal is to help students from extremely poor families complete their education.
The Cabinet Minister said the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is working for the welfare of all sections of society, with a specific focus on Scheduled Caste students.
Improve the standard of living for Scheduled Caste students
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that this amount can improve the standard of living for Scheduled Caste students.
The Minister further informed that they pay financial assistance directly into the beneficiaries‘ bank accounts.
