PEDA INKS MoU WITH IIT ROPAR TO SET UP CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR E-MOBILITY IN PRESENCE OF AMAN ARORA
- PEDA & IIT Ropar to undertake activities for Green Hydrogen production
- 1 MW Agri-PV will also be set up at IIT Ropar Campus
- MoU will pave the way to explore electric & connected vehicle landscape, says New & Renewable Energy Minister
Chandigarh, August 1:
In a bid to make Punjab front-runner state in production of clean and green energy, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) on Tuesday has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar in the presence of Punjab New & Renewable Energy Sources Minister Mr. Aman Arora to jointly undertake activities for production of Green Hydrogen production, besides establishing a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for E-mobility in the state.
The MoU was signed by Chief Executive Officer PEDA Dr. Ravi Bhagat and Director IIT Ropar Prof. Rajeev Ahuja at Punjab Civil Secretariat-1, here
After the signing ceremony, Mr Aman Arora said that PEDA and IIT Ropar will work to develop a Pilot Project for producing of Green Hydrogen from Biomass, Skill Transfer Training of Manpower through Centre of Excellence (CoE) for e-mobility sector, besides setting up a 1MW Agri-PV Project at IIT Ropar Campus.
Appreciating the efforts of IIT, Ropar for taking initiative in the field of research and development of Green Hydrogen production, the Cabinet Minister said that the MoU will pave the way to explore the electric and connected vehicle landscape, covering a wide range of vehicles including utility vehicles, light commercial vehicles. He said that Chief Minister S Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has been taking concreted efforts to make the state number 1 in production of clean and green energy.
Director PEDA Mr. M.P. Singh discussed the ideas to take up projects related to research & development in the field of Green Hydrogen.
Chairman Punjab Genco Ltd. Navjot Singh Mandair Jarg, Joint Director PEDA Mr. Kulbir Singh Sandhu, Associate Dean (R&D) of IIT, Ropar Dr. Pushpinder P. Singh and Associate Professor Mechanical Engineering Dr. Dheeraj K. Mahajan were also present on the occasion.
