ON THE DIRECTIVES OF CHIEF MINISTER BHAGWANT MANN, VACCINATION DRIVE ACCELERATED TO KEEP ANIMALS DISEASE-FREE
– More than 25000 people shifted to safer places
– 3300 people are still staying in 164 relief camps
– Distribution of dry food packets continues, 52000 packets distributed in Patiala and 20000 in Rupnagar
Chandigarh, July 15:
On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to protect human life and property as well as to keep the animals free from diseases, the Animal Husbandry Department has accelerated the vaccination drive. As per the information, 11672 animals have been vaccinated where as 2862 animals have been treated so far.
Keeping in view the health of the people, the Health Department teams are also actively working in the flood affected areas. At present, 359 Rapid Response Teams are operational while the number of medical camps has been increased to 263.
As per the directions given by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 25160 flood-affected people have been evacuated to safe places. A total of 164 relief camps are running in the state in which 3331 people are staying. Maximum 56 relief camps are in Jalandhar district.
A spokesperson said that 1390 villages in 14 districts are still affected by floods. The 14 districts that are currently affacted from floods includes Patiala, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Moga, Ludhiana, Mohali and Sangrur.
According to the report received by the revenue department from different districts, a total of 29 people have lost their lives due to floods in the state while 3 are still missing.
He further informed that dry food packets are being continuously distributed in the flood affected areas. More than 72000 dry food packets have been distributed in Patiala (52000) and Rupnagar (20030) alone.
