Ninder Ghugianvi to Receive ‘Sahatya Ratna’ from Punjab University

chandigarh , feb 21 : Punjab University Chandigarh has announced to give Sahatya Ratna to Ninder Ghugianvi, 48 years old and author of 68 books, on the occasion of its 71st convocation on March 7, 2024.
Ninder Ghugianvi  becomes the first Punjabi writer appointed Writer in Residence at Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Warda, Maharashtra.
About 12 students have completed their M.Phil and Ph.D. studies based on the books authored by Ninder Ghugianvi, a writer who passed the 9th grade. Furthermore, all the universities in Punjab have included his books as part of their syllabus. Additionally, the National Book Trust of India, Delhi, published the English translation of Ninder Ghugianvi’s autobiography titled “I was judge’s orderly,” providing insights into his experiences serving as an orderly in a judge’s court.

Fifteen Indian languages have translated this book, expanding its reach across the diverse linguistic landscape of the country. Furthermore, he has produced many short films based on his writings and conducted extensive research on the rich folklore and culture of Punjab.

Upon receiving the Sahatya Ratna from Punjab University Chandigarh during the 71st convocation, he expressed that his responsibility towards art and literature has significantly increased, resonating with a deeper commitment than ever before.
