Nihang Singhs to organise Langar in Ayodhya

Eighth Descendant of Nihang Singh, Capturer of Babri Masjid in 1858, to Organize Langar in Ayodhya for Ram Mandir Inauguration

In November 1858, as many as 25 Nihang Singhs (Sikhs), under the leadership of Nihang Baba Fakir Singh Khalsa, had captured the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya and had performed havan in it. Besides this, the Nihangs had also written ‘Ram Ram’ on the masjid walls and had hoisted the saffron flag. Following this, an FIR was registered against the 25 Nihang Singhs by the in charge of Awadh police station on November 30, 1858, after the complaint of Muezzin (Masjid’s officer).
The important historical event gained more importance on November 9, 2019, when the Supreme Court of India gave its verdict in favour of Hindus, on the basis of evidence. The information was shared by Jathedar Baba Harjit Singh Rasulpur, the eighth descendant from the family of Nihang Baba Fakir Singh Khalsa while addressing a press conference in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Baba Harjit Singh Rasulpur said that not only his ancestors but also had true devotion and faith towards Lord Ram. “Now when the Prana Prathishtha (consecration) of Lord Rama is being done on January 22, 2024, how I can stay behind”, said Baba Harjit Singh, while adding that he along with Nihang Singhs will organize langar in Ayodhya on January 22 and will serve the sangat coming from all over the country and abroad.
“Even if I am Nihang Singh, I have equal faith in Sanatan Dharma as in Sikhism. All the fundamentalists, who try to create a divide among Sikhs and Hindus, should know that the first FIR for Ram Temple was not against Hindus but against Sikhs”, Baba Harjit Singh said.
“I have no affiliation with any political party and I am only a bearer of eternal traditions. I even had to face criticism while maintaining coordination between Nihangs and Sanatan Dharma because on one hand, I am amritdhari (baptized) Sikh but on the other hand, I wear Rudraksha mala around my neck”, said Baba Harjit Singh.
Jathedar Baba Harjit Singh Rasulpur concluded by saying that whenever the country and religion are in need, he and his family will never step back.
