MOGA POLICE FOILS BID OF GANGSTERS TO TAKE A CRIMINAL AWAY FROM POLICE CUSTODY
CHANDIGARH/MOGA, November 16:
Punjab Police on Monday arrested two persons from outside the Moga District Court Complex for making an attempt to take a criminal away from the police custody. Notably, the Moga Police was to produce Harjinder Singh alias Raju of Moga in the Court for hearing.
Those arrested have been identified as Amandeep Singh alias Jajji (24), a resident of Moga and Jaspreet Singh alias Preet (31) of Faridkot. The Police have also recovered one .32 bore revolver and 6 live cartridges along with one motorcycle from their possession.
Sharing details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Moga SS Mand said that following a credible inputs, police teams from CIA Moga managed to arrest both the accused persons before they could take the criminal away from the police custody.
The arrested accused persons have revealed that Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi of Faridkot, who is presently in Faridkot jail, had tasked them to help Harjinder escape from the Police custody, said the SSP, adding that they all are close aides of Gangster Satinder Brar alias Goldy Brar, who is presently residing in Canada. All the accused persons have criminal records, he said.
SSP Mand said that antecedents of Jaspreet @ Preet are being verified, while, both Harjinder and Jaspreet @ Jassi would be brought on production warrants for further investigation.
Meanwhile, FIR No 200 dated 15.11.2021 under section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, sections 25(6) and 27 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station City Moga.
