Minor raise in MSP of Wheat is condemnable :Cheema

Senior Youth Leader & Progressive Young farmer Amardeep Singh Cheema who has served on the world’s largest Agricultural Systems Indian Council of Agricultural Research as GB Member and on the Board of Management of Punjab Agricultural University has strongly criticised and condemned the miniscule raise of 40 Rupees in MSP of Wheat and accordingly in other 23 Rabi Crops of years 2021-22 in the backdrop of tall claims of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Public gatherings in run up to 2014 Lok Sabha Elections of doubling the farmer income on the formation of BJP government which later was postponed to year 2022 and implementation of Dr.MS Swaminathan Committee Report in Toto.

Mr.Cheema stated that this clearly shows the negative attitude of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA Government towards toiling millions of farmers  which constitutes more than 68% of population and the only segment which provided badly needed relief through foodgrains and provided much needed foreign exchange during Covid19  Global Pandemic .

Mr. Cheema while stating this announcement as utter failure of Prime Minister as  decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on recommendation of MSP by Commission for Agricultural Cost & Prices (CACP) which are way away from the the factual situation at ground as the cost per quintal stated by CACP of Wheat is 1008 Rs per quintal and in a clear Book Fudging exercise declaring MSP of wheat as Rs/-2015 is a cruel joke of referring this as doubling the farmer income.

Mr. Cheema overwhelmingly challenged the cost calculations(A2 + FL)  said deliberately the way cost has been calculated is actually cost of selective inputs while blatantly ignoring the costs of Land , Tilling, Labour, Capital Cost , Supervision  and highest ever inflation in Diesel Prices and central Govt. Controlled Fertilisers and costs of Weedicides and insecticides apart from Finance cost which farm unions and others have been agitating.

Mr.Cheema said despite the public anger led by Farmers who are camping on Capital borders Modi Government is still towing the lines of Multinational and selective business houses of defending the 3 Agri. Laws and this announcement will be a trigger for throwing the regime in forthcoming elections in a democratic way.
