MEET HAYER SANCTIONS RS. 5.72 CR FOR RESTORATION OF THE DISTRIBUTION NETWORK OF 7 DAMS OF KANDI AREA

With a view to ensuring a robust water distribution network in the State as per the vision of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government, the Water Resources Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has sanctioned Rs. 5.72 Cr for the restoration of 7 dams in the Kandi area under Area Dam Circle, Water Resources Department, Hoshiarpur.
The Water Resources Minister disclosed that the Seven existing low level dams in the Kandi area namely Saleran Dam, Perch Dam, Patiari Dam, Thana Dam, Jainti Dam, Siswan Dam and Mirzapur Dam tap the rain water of Shivalik hills and provide irrigation facilities to Kandi area through distribution system besides protecting the area from floods.
Meet Hayer further said that the distribution system of these 7 dams is choked due to non maintenance, which has resulted in non irrigation of the command area falling under these 7 dams of the Kandi area. Accordingly, the subject cited project has been framed to open the distribution network system of 7 dams with the help of an Air compressor.
The Minister further said that the state government is making continuous efforts to strengthen the irrigation infrastructure in Punjab. It is preparing a better network to reach canal water to the farmers.
