Families in Bathinda city, who have endured water shortages for years, got big relief when Mayor Padamjeet Singh Mehta laid the foundation stone for a water supply system project worth about ₹26 crore in Amarpura Basti under the leadership of the Mann Government. The AMRUT 2.0 scheme ensures that the infrastructure built is not only new but also sustainable and modern. These projects use new technology for efficient water distribution and water conservation. Mayor Mehta said that, until now, residents of many city areas—especially Model Town Phase 4–5 and Amarpura Basti—have had to borrow water. However, with the implementation of this project, the problem will end permanently. Moreover, he added that under the ₹26 crore project, the administration will build two water tanks—one in Amarpura Basti and another in Model Town Phase 4–5—each with a capacity of 2 lakh gallons, thereby ensuring a reliable and long-term water supply for residents.

Mayor Padamjeet Singh Mehta thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh and said that, under their leadership, the government is making strong efforts to strengthen infrastructure in Bathinda and across Punjab. He added that the Mann Government prioritizes public welfare, delivers relief to every household, and resolves people’s problems promptly. He added that with this foundation stone ceremony, a new chapter has begun to provide clean and uninterrupted drinking water to those areas of Bathinda city that have faced water shortages for a long time.
