
*Punjab Stands Tall: Mann Govt’s Flood Relief Drive Turns Crisis into People’s Power
Chandigarh, September 2, 2025 ; In this difficult time of natural disaster, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has set a historic example of service and dedication. The flood relief campaign led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann proves that when a crisis strikes the people, true leadership stands among them, shoulder to shoulder.
Authorities have rescued and shifted 15,688 people to safer locations so far, while 7,144 individuals are staying in relief camps. Floods have impacted more than 2.56 lakh people across 1,044 villages, but officials have launched immediate relief and rehabilitation measures to support affected families.CM Bhagwant Mann personally visited Gurdaspur, Sultanpur Lodhi, and Pathankot to assess ground conditions. He assured families that the government would not leave anyone helpless, it would provide compensation for losses, and it would restore normalcy soon.
CM Mann and Ministers Lead Ground-Level Flood Relief Efforts
What stood out most was that instead of restricting himself to formal aerial surveys, CM Mann walked through villages, personally interacted with people, listened to their grievances, and ensured solutions on the spot. This became a strong testimony to his “People First” policy, instilling confidence and hope among affected families.
The ministers’ active participation made the campaign even more humane and impactful. Food & Supplies Minister Lalchand Kataruchak has been traveling from village to village in Bhua constituency on a motorcycle, actively helping people and keeping a close watch on the relief operations.. Revenue Minister Hardeep Mundian went door to door in Sultanpur Lodhi to hear people’s concerns. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh personally flagged off relief trucks, while Education Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO joined villagers barefoot with a spade in hand in Patti, Tarn Taran, to help fill a deep landslide pit. In Faizilka, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur visited Noorshah village to distribute relief material and comfort affected families. Panchayat Minister Tarunpreet Sond and Cabinet Minister Laljit Bhullar also visited various districts to personally hand over relief supplies.
Punjab Ministers Donate One Month Salary
For the first time in history, all Punjab ministers donated their entire one month’s salary to the Flood Relief fund. From the Chief Minister to every minister, dedicating personal income to public service sent out a clear message. The AAP government does not just make speeches. It proves its commitment through actions.
The relief campaign provided not only physical aid but also boosted people’s morale. Over 3,200 ration kits, 17,000 food packets, and 45,000 water bottles were distributed. For livestock, 700 quintals of dry fodder and 1,450 feed bags were arranged. In addition, innovative measures highlighted the government’s sensitivity and seriousness in every aspect. These included a 24/7 helpline, digital tracking of relief supplies, community kitchens, veterinary health camps, and counseling sessions for children.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized his message. The Punjab government’s top priority is the safety of its people. Their well-being is also of utmost importance. Rising above politics, the focus has been solely on serving humanity. He added that all affected families will receive compensation within 15 days through Direct Benefit Transfer. The survey process has already begun through special girdawari (damage assessment).
Today, the people of Punjab can proudly say they have a government that doesn’t just make promises. This government stands with them every step of the way in times of crisis. The Mann government’s relief drive is a true example of politics of service. It shows dedication and sensitivity. This gives Punjab a new identity as a resilient and strong state.
