Malerkotla Police apprehend two inter-state drug traffickers as part of the ongoing anti-drug operations led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and overseen by DGP Gaurav Yadav IPS. A 3.5 kg quantity of illegal hashish was found in the possession of the defendants, Muhammad Yasin and Muhammad Rafi. Sub-Inspector Surjit Singh’s police team apprehended the main providers in the act after acting upon reliable information.
They were caught arranging a drug supply when they had open cases all across the region. The accused is going to be prosecuted in light of the filed case, and the SSP has warned that drug offenders would now face harsher punishments.
A first information report has been filed under applicable sections of the NDPS Act against the two at the City Police Station in Malerkotla.
The detained accused will be produced before the local court and their custody will be sought to further probe the case and examine their forward and backward connections.
SSP Khakh warned of more severe penalties to drug smugglers and made an appeal to the people to come forward with drug related information.
