Won’t be able to present myself before SIT : Bikram S Majithia to SIT.

Won’t be able to present myself before SIT as I am in Delhi to assist my lawyers in SLP filed against me in SC – Bikram S Majithia to SIT.

Chandigarh, July 20 – Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia today informed the SIT probing a NDPS case against him that he would not be able to present himself before the investigating authority as he was present in Delhi to assist his lawyers in the special leave petition filed against him in the Supreme Court by the State government to cancel his regular bail in the NDPS case.

Bikram Majithia’s counsel, Damambir Singh Sobti, sent a communication to the SIT in this regard.

The communication said the SIT was aware of the court hearing in the Supreme Court and had deliberately misused its powers to prevent  Majithia from seeking remedies available to him as per law. The SAD leader stated he had appeared before all SITs formed by the State to probe the NDPS Act case, and he claimed that today’s attempt to ensure his presence before the SIT aimed to scuttle his right to access legal assistance.

The communication asserted that the chief minister-controlled SIT couldn’t conduct a fair investigation and was attempting to falsely claim non-cooperation. “The SIT Chairman has stated that they will plead  Majithia’s non-cooperation.”

It asserted that the Akali leader was rightfully in Delhi to assist his lawyers and would not be able to present himself before the SIT today.
