Laljit Singh Bhullar emphasizes on encouraging Punjab farmers for allied sectors
-Only eligible farmers to get subsidies
-Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development holds maiden meeting with the officials of the department*
Chandigarh, July 11:
Laljit Singh Bhullar, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, while emphasizing on encouraging the farmers of Punjab towards allied sectors, said that if the income of the farmers increases, it would improve the financial conditions of the entire state.
Chairing maiden meeting with the top brass of the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Department and other officials after the expansion of the Cabinet by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Minister said that the government would do their best to get the farmers involved in animal husbandry, fish farming and dairy farming to increase their income.
Presiding over the meeting at Punjab Bhawan, Laljit Singh Bhullar said that an honest and transparent government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been chosen by the people to serve and transform the state.
Minister said that he would put sincere efforts in bringing reform in the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Department.
He categorically said that the subsidies will be given to those farmers who are eligible and entitled to it. No farmer will need a recommendation to get the subsidy.
He also issued special instructions to the officers to provide benefits to the eligible beneficiaries.
He also stressed on encouraging farmers to take up allied occupations. Bhullar said that the experts of the department should teach the farmers new techniques therfore the farmers could keep pace with the times.
He also directed the officers of the department to extend the maximum benefits of the schemes of the Central Government to the farmers. Bhullar said that officials have to take a result oriented approach so that pro-people schemes can be implemented properly.
He also asked the officers to pay special attention to the fresh recruitment so that the work of the department could be expedited. Earlier, officials of the department briefed the Minister about the functioning and schemes of the department.
Prominent amongst others Principal Secretary Vikas Pratap, Joint Secretary Rajpal Singh, Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Subhash Chandra, Director Dairy Development Kuldeep Singh, Director Fisheries Jasveer Singh and other officials were present.
