Jimpa writes to Gadkari about dilapidated condition of Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur-Dharamshala highway
- Demands immediate repair of road near Hoshiarpur
Chandigarh, September 9:
Punjab Revenue Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa has written a letter to Union Road Transport Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari, making a case for immediate repair of the worst condition of Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur-Dharamshala national highway. He said that this is an important road connecting two states but in a very bad state at many places in and around Hoshiarpur. He said that people have staged agitations many times demanding the repair of the road as many people have lost their lives in road accidents.
He said that this highway connects two states Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and pilgrims from all over the India use this route to reach Mata Chintpurni ji, Mata Jwala ji, Mata Kangra Devi ji, Mata Chamunda Devi ji, Mata Baglamukhi ji and Baba Balak Nath ji. The same road is also used to go to Adampur Airport. Jimpa said that a lot of people also use this road to visit famous tourist cities of northern India, viz. Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj.
He said that earlier PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO had also written a letter regarding the repair of this road but no action has been taken yet. Jimpa said that the Public Works Department of Punjab has written a separate letter in detail to the National Highways Authority to repair this road.
He strongly demanded that considering the importance of this highway, the Union Road Transport Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari should issue instructions to the National Highways Authority for the immediate repair of the extremely dilapidated condition of the road.
