CHANDIGARH, May 19: Punjab BJPPresident Sunil Jakhar reiterated that Bhagwant Mann’s government has been completely hijacked. It has been taken over by AAP’s Delhi-based leaders. This situation has led to a constitutional crisis in the state. On Monday, he demanded that the ambit of the CBI probe into the Delhi Excise Policy expand. It must also investigate the Amritsar Hooch Tragedy.
The views were expressed by the BJP President during his media interaction outside Raj Bhawan here earlier today, after leading the BJP delegation which had called on the Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. In the wake of Amritsar Hooch Tragedy, Jakhar urged the Governor with the demand for a CBI probe into Amritsar Hooch Tragedy and AAP’s liquor mafia links.

Led by President Sunil Jakhar, BJP delegation called on the Governor here this afternoon and submitted a detailed memorandum also seeking probe into links of AAP’s Punjab leadership with liquor mafia running amok in Punjab. The delegation demanded that ED must be asked to undertake a thorough probe to expose this nexus.
The delegation included Former Minister Manoranjan Kalia, MLA Jangi Lal Mahajan, and General Secretary BJP Punjab Parminder Brar. Other members were Jagmohan Singh Raju, President OBC morcha Punjab BJP Amarpal Singh Bonny Ajnala, and Rajinder Mohan Singh Chinna. Additionally, Rajbir Sharma & Incharge State cells BJP Punjab Ranjam Kamra; State Media Head BJP Punjab Vineet Joshi and Gejja Ram Valmiki were included.
They termed it as an avoidable tragedy. The delegation stated that the quotas distributed under the Liquor Policy introduced by AAP in Punjab 2022 must also be probed. This policy was designed on the lines of the Delhi Excise Policy. This investigation is necessary to ascertain who got the illegal benefits and to what extent. This can be done through Stock registers. These registers must be inspected to find out the truth of Liquor Policy, the Memorandum said.
An investigation into the amount of Foreign Liquor Quota allowed has been sought. This includes the quantity lifted by Liquor Contractors of Punjab each year since July 2022.
Jakhar Urges Probe Into AAP Leaders, Hooch Tragedy, Missing Accused
Responding to a query, Jakhar said while referring to the CBI investigation into the Delhi Excise Policy. He mentioned that raids were conducted in Punjab too as part of the CBI probe. Jakhar demanded that the ongoing CBI enquiry must be speeded up to conclude. He emphasized that the role of Punjab AAP leaders needs to be brought before the public. The guilty must be brought to justice. “The NCB must be roped in to ascertain illegal proceeds. The ambit of this CBI enquiry must be widened to include the Amritsar Hooch Tragedy,” Jakhar added.
The Memorandum also demanded a probe into AAP’s Delhi-based leaders. It questioned under which official post and capacity they were allowed official houses in Chandigarh. It also questioned their presence in official government meetings.
In another related matter, the delegation also demanded a probe into the mysterious disappearance of Harpreet Singh alias Harry. He was sentenced for life imprisonment in FIR no 120, u/s 302 and 120-B IPC, dated 12/12/15 at P.S Bahavwala along with a liquor contractor. Harry has been booked in another FIR no.116/23 in NDPS sections was registered at P.S Nathana, Bathinda for a huge recovery of Heroine smuggled via Pakistan with the help of ISI. Harry has since then mysteriously disappeared after getting bail for his Harnia operation.
The Memorandum demanded a probe into the meteoric rise in the properties of MLAs, Ministers, and their first relatives. This occurred during the three-year regime of AAP in Punjab.
