Tragically, one woman dies of cervical cancer every eight minutes, making it one of the greatest threats to women’s health. The sad part is that our women are suffering and dying despite the fact that this is the only cancer which can be prevented with HPV Vaccine to girls and boys by 15 years of age and screening with Pap Smear and colposcopy starting from the age of 25 years. This was followed by a skit performance by the Nursing Officers for creating cervical cancer awareness.
Colposcopy is a medical diagnostic procedure to visually examine the cervix as well as vagina and vulva using a colposcope. The main goal of colposcope is to prevent cervical cancer by detecting and treating precancerous lesions early in the same visit. It will go a long way in preventing and early detection of cervical cancer.
