250 Building Projects Worth Rs 2000 Crore Underway in Punjab: Harbhajan Singh ETO
Chandigarh, January 21 : Upgrading 22 State Roads : Punjab Public Works MinisterHarbhajan Singh ETO has issued a directive. All officers of the department must comply. They must adhere strictly to the stipulated norms during bidding processes. Officers should maintain the highest quality standards while executing their work. Additionally, he emphasized the need to expedite the collection of state revenue from access fees. These fees come from commercial establishments like petrol pumps along the roads. He also stressed the importance of ensuring proper records of accesses are maintained.
Minister chaired a high-level meeting
Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO chaired a high-level meeting. The purpose was to review the progress of major infrastructure projects. These projects are being undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) across the state. They also strategized for future developments. Secretary PWD Ravi Bhagat, along with all Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers of PWD B&R, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, they held detailed discussions. They evaluated the achievements related to budgetary provisions. They also assessed the actual execution of works at the project sites. The PWD Minister also directed the officers to expedite the completion of ongoing projects.He instructed them to meet all physical and financial targets. He stressed the importance of timely completion and adherence to high standards in all infrastructure projects.
Department is currently upgrading 22 state roads : ETO
The department apprised the PWD Minister that it is currently upgrading 22 state roads.These roads cover a total length of 745 kilometers. The government is upgrading roads under long-term maintenance contracts at a cost of Rs 532 crore. The upgraded roads include Bhawanigarh-Mehlan Chowk, Patran-Moonak, Gharaun Ambala, Zira-Ferozepur, Old Morinda Road, Mukerian-Talwara-Mubarikpur, Dakha-Halwara-Raikot-Barnala, among others. These upgrades will significantly improve the state’s road infrastructure and facilitate smoother transportation. The Punjab Mandi Board will release funds for link roads shortly, and work will start soon.
PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment. The government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, aims to enhance the state’s infrastructure. It also focuses on ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in all projects.
