Governor pays tributes to Netaji on his Birth Anniversary

CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 23: On Prakram Diwas, Governor Punjab and UT Chandigarh Administrator, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, paid heartfelt tributes to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.

In a solemn ceremony organized at Punjab Raj Bhawan on Tuesday, Shri Purohit and Raj Bhawan officials offered floral tributes to Netaji on his birth anniversary.

Bowing in reverence and paying glowing tributes to the iconic brave leader, the Governor stated that Netaji personified valour, determination, and sacrifice, and played an invaluable role in liberating our motherland from the yoke of British rule. Netaji’s slogans ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Give me blood and I will give you freedom’ sparked patriotism and instilled the fervour of nationalism in the hearts of Indians during the struggle for freedom.

The Governor noted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had honored Netaji Subash Chandra Bose for his unique contribution by installing a 28-feet grand statue at India Gate, replacing the statue of George V, and changing the name of Raj Path to Kartavya Path, removing the symbol of slavery. He further expressed, “The nation will forever be grateful to Netaji for his enormous contribution in India’s struggle for freedom”.

Shri K. Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Punjab, along with other officers and staff members of Raj Bhavan, were present on the occasion.
