Glory of Nangal city to be restored, says Harjot Singh Bains

* ₹20.50 crore will be spent on development of the city

Nangal, the first modern city developed in Independent India, will soon be restored to its former glory. Cabinet Minister of Punjab Harjot Singh Bains expressed this  in a press statement issued here today.

He said that Nangal city, which was developed by National Fertilizer Limited (NFL) and Bhakra Beas Management Board, has lost its sheen and title as a developed city due to the neglect of previous regimes.

Cabinet Minister said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is giving special attention to restore the old glory of this city and Rs 20.50 crore are being spent on the development of Nangal city.

He said that a project has been prepared at a cost of Rs 10 crores to ensure uninterrupted potable water supply to Nangal city, besides increasing it from currently 2 MD to 5 md. He said with this upgradation Nangal has the capacity to meet the drinking water demand arising in the city during the next two decades.

Apart from this, the capacity of sewage treatment plant in Nangal city is also being increased by two and a half times. Along with this, 30 thousand saplings are being planted for the purpose of making Nangal city green.

He said that Rs 5 crore will be spent on the Government Girls School in Nangal, while Rs 4.50 crore will be used to build a magnificent swimming pool in the Government School Boys. Apart from this, Jalfa Mata Mandir will be beautified at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

Cabinet minister said that with the sewage treatment plant being set up in Talwara village, the sewage problem in Jawahar Market, Indira Nagar will be completely resolved. He further informed that the ongoing sewerage work of railway road will be completed soon.

Mr. Bains said that his dream is to re-establish  Nangal city on the tourism map, for which the problems of the city need to be solved first and he is working in this direction.

 He said that a world class museum is also being prepared in Nangal city very soon.
