FINANCE DEPARTMENT APPROVES PHASE-WISE RECRUITMENT OF 345 VETERINARY INSPECTORS: HARPAL SINGH CHEEMA
Chandigarh, November 18 ; The Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, on Tuesday announced that the Finance Department has approved the proposal regarding the Phase-Wise Recruitment of 345 Veterinary Inspectors in the Animal Husbandry Department.
Revealing this in a press communique issued here, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Animal Husbandry Department has approved a total of 2,010 posts for Veterinary Inspectors, of which they have filled 1,665 while 345 positions remain vacant. . He said that the Finance Department has approved the filling of these 345 vacant posts in a phased manner.In the first phase, officials will fill 150 posts during the current fiscal year 2025–26. They will fill the remaining 195 posts in the second phase during the next fiscal year 2026–27.
The Finance Minister also chairs the cabinet subcommittee formed to resolve employees’ issues. He noted the need to fill existing vacancies. The officials emphasized this during a meeting with the Punjab State Veterinary Inspectors Association. He mentioned that during the meeting, the Animal Husbandry Department observed an increase. The number of animals receiving treatment at the state’s 22 Veterinary Polyclinics is rising. This is leading to a shortage of staff.
The Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema hailed the approval to fill all 345 vacant posts. He considered it a major stride in maintaining seamless and efficient animal health services for Punjab’s livestock keepers. The Animal Husbandry department provides its services through the state’s vast network. This network comprises 22 Veterinary Polyclinics, 1,367 Animal Hospitals, and 1,489 Animal Dispensaries. He affirmed that this decision is a direct response to pressing departmental needs, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of critical care.
