Local Government Minister Balkar Singh held a review meeting today at the Municipal Building, Sector 35, Chandigarh, to discuss various issues related to development projects. Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, along with legislators from different constituencies, attended the departmental meeting with officials to review ongoing development works. During the meeting, officials were directed to release undisbursed funds quickly under different schemes according to guidelines for the benefit of the public.
The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively working to provide basic amenities, a clean environment, and pollution-free surroundings to the residents of Punjab. The state government is committed to carrying out development projects across the state for the fulfillment of this purpose.
During the review meeting, detailed discussions were conducted on projects related to the Swachh Bharat Mission and Amrut Mission in various cities and towns like Dhuri, Sangrur, Bhawanigarh, Longowal, Sunam, Cheema, Dirba, Lehargag, Moonak, Khanaur, Barnala, Dhanaula, Handiaya, Tapa, Bhadaur, Dharamkot, Fatehgarh Panjtoor, Kot Ise Khan, Baghapurana, Badhnikala, Nihal Singh Wala. Information about the funds allocated and action plans under these schemes was obtained, and officials were urged to complete these projects promptly.
Similarly, detailed discussions were held about the availability of locations for sewerage treatment plants and water treatment plants in different areas. It was emphasized that any challenges or issues in ongoing projects should be addressed by coordinating with local legislators and district administrations.
Minister further stated that the government has sufficient funds for development projects. Therefore, if any equipment or machinery is required for sewerage and other works in Urban Local Bodies, they should be procured promptly.
Cabinet Minister instructed officials to share comprehensive information about development projects with their respective legislators for efficient execution based on the needs of the residents. It was emphasized that the funds should be utilized judiciously.
Cabinet Minister appealed to officials to work with integrity and honesty. He assured that the government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to establishing a corruption-free administration. Any individual involved in corruption will not be spared.
During the meeting, MLAs Narender Kaur Bharaj, Amandeep Kaur Arora, Brinder Kumar Goyal, Labh Singh Ugoke, Davinderjit Singh Dhose, Amritpal Singh, and Manjit Singh, along with representatives of MLAs, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board CEO Malwinder Singh Jaggi, PMIDC CEO Deepati Uppal, EOs of Municipal Council/Nagar Panchayats and other officials were present.
