Recently, the Election Commission of India (ECI) made a significant announcement, unveiling a revised schedule for the special summary revision of the electoral roll specifically tailored for Punjab. This updated schedule serves as a crucial guideline for the comprehensive overhaul of the electoral roll within the state. The revision, centered around the qualifying date of 01.01.2024, carries substantial importance in ensuring an accurate and updated voter registry. The modifications in the schedule encompass pivotal phases of the revision process, notably including the disposal of claims and objections, checking health parameters, obtaining the Commission’s permission for final publication, updating the database, and printing necessary supplements. With these adjustments, the Election Commission of India aims to streamline the revision process, setting new deadlines such as by 12.01.2024 for the disposal of claims and objections, by 17.01.2024 for health parameter checks and obtaining permission, and finally, by 22.01.2024 for the ultimate phase of final publication. Divulging the details, a spokesperson informed that special summary revision of electoral roll w.r.t. 01.01.2024 as the qualifying date in Punjab shall now be done as per the schedule below:

Existing Schedule by 26.12.2023 (Tuesday),
Revised Schedule by 12.01.2024 (Friday)
2. Checking of health parameters and obtaining Commission’s permission for final publication (ii) Updating database and printing of supplements
