ECI holds regional conference of CEOs and SPNOs of 8 states/UTs in view of forthcoming general election to Lok Sabha 2024
Chandigarh, October 31:
A team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) consiting of senior officers held one day conference cum review meeting with the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and State Police Nodal Officers (SPNOs) of 8 states and UTs in view of forthcoming general election to Lok Sabha 2024 in Chandigarh.
The ECI team consisted of Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Dharmendra Sharma, Nitesh Kumar Vyas, Deputy Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar Sahoo, Senior Principal Secretary N.N. Butalia, Director Ashok Kumar and Pankaj Srivastava.
Chief Electoral Officers and State Police Nodal Officers of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Ladakh gave detailed presentations about the preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election due in the year 2024.
ECI team were apprised of law and order situation in the states, Voter and polling stations details and all kinds of preparations related to forthcoming election.
ECI had given suggestions and directions to all CEOs and SPNOs in ensuring a healthy electoral roll, various activities to be undertaken during SSR (Special Summary Revision 2024 ), improving various Roll indices, Enrolment of all eligible voters and removal of dead and duplicate voters and preparations for the logistics requirements in Election.
Apart from this, a detailed review of the voter turnout, review of various IT applications, expenditure management and seizures, training and capacity building of various polling related officers and staff was also done in the review meeting.
