Dhami Unveils Sikh Martial Art Council’s Annual Calendar

Amritsar, January 7 – Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in Amritsar, unveiled the much-anticipated annual calendar of the International Sikh Martial Art Council’s

The event witnessed the presence of several members, including General Secretary Rajinder Singh Mehta, Executive Member Indramohan Singh Lakhmirwala, Secretary Pratap Singh, along with the President of the International Sikh Martial Arts Council (ISMAC), Harjeet Singh Grewal, Finance Secretary Baljit Singh, Vice President of the National Gatka Association of India (N.G.A.I.) Inderjodh Singh, Vice President of the Gatka Association of Punjab, Sarabjit Singh, N.G.A.I. national coaches Yograj Singh Bhambri and Mandeep Singh Zirakpur, Sherry Singh, and Harsimran Singh.

Advocate Dhami emphasized the invaluable role of martial arts in Sikh history and heritage, urging every member of the Sikh qaum, irrespective of age or gender, to embrace and practice this traditional art form for self-defense. Rajinder Singh Mehta, the General Secretary, lauded SGPC’s commendable efforts in promoting ‘Shastra Vidya’ within its educational institutions. He also acknowledged the commendable contributions of Harjeet Singh Grewal in the promotion and preservation of Gatka.

EarlierInternational Sikh Martial Art Council’s  ISMAC Chairman Harjeet Singh Grewal, who is also serving as the President of N.G.A.I., provided an insightful briefing to Advocate Dhami and Rajinder Singh Mehta regarding the Gatka annual calendar’s significance. Grewal highlighted that apart from featuring Desi-English months including Sangrand, Amavasya, and Purnmasi, the calendar aims to enlighten individuals about the holistic benefits associated with actively engaging in Gatka as part of their daily lives.
