DGP Punjab Dinkar Gupta inaugurates Integrated Sports Complex in Tarn Taran
— Recruitment of over 10000 Constables, Sub-Inspectors soon, DGP Dinkar Gupta exhorts aspirants to start preparation
— DGP Dinkar Gupta also allows public to use sports complex facility at Police Lines Tarn Taran
CHANDIGARH/ TARN TARAN, June 28:
In order to bolster the mental and physical well-being of the police personnel and their families, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Dinkar Gupta on Monday, inaugurated an ambitious project of Integrated Sports Complex at Police Lines here in Tarn Taran. Apart from Police Personnel, the DGP also allowed public to use Sports Complex facilities.
DGP Dinkar Gupta, while addressing the gathering during the inauguration event, also announced that the Punjab Government will be recruiting over 10,000 police officials at the level of Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables in different cadres soon. He said that apart from this the Punjab Police will also recruit special experts in different fields including forensic science, cyber crime, lawyers, financial and digital forensic.
He exhorted the youth of Punjab to seize the opportunity and start preparations for the Written and Physical Screening Test in the right earnest.
The DGP also thanked the MP Khadoor Sahib Jasbir Singh Gill, MLA Tarn Taran Dharamvir Agnihotri, MLA Patti Harminder Singh Gill, MLA Khemkaran Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, MLA Khadoor Sahib Ramanjit Singh Sikki, who attended the inaugural event, for their support.
The DGP, while taking a round of the newly built Sports Complex, established at over four acres land with the cost of Rs 1.70 crores, said that the objective of this robust sports infrastructure is to further engage cops in activities of sports and fitness. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran Kulwant Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hardial Singh Mann and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tarn Taran Dhruman Nimbale.
He said that this complex comprises of World-class facilities including 400 meter Running Track of International standards, High Jump & Long Jump Track, Spacious Pavilion, Obstacle Course for outdoor training, Basketball Court, Wellness centre, Indoor & Outdoor Gym, Boxing Ring and Cricket Pitch besides Physiotherapy and Counselling centre.
The DGP said that these facilities at the Sports Complex will not only help the police personnel to enhance their mental and physical fitness but will also generate interest in outdoor sports activities among them, their families and public as well.
SSP Dhruman Nimbale informed that since there was almost no facility for the fitness/recreation of Police Personnel, they have decided to utilise the barren land lying unused in the Police Lines to establish this Sports Complex. To further enhance the healthy and clean environment, an extensive tree plantation drive was also carried out and over 2000 saplings were planted at the Police Lines, he added.
Meanwhile, DGP Dinkar Gupta also presented commendation certificates to the Police officials, who did excellent work including in fight against drugs and in the case of Balwinder Singh murder case.
