Deputy Chief Minister instructs Civil Surgeons to provide quality healthcare to people of state

Health Officials Instructed to prepare for possible third wave of Covid

Chandigarh, September 30:

In his maiden meeting with all the Civil Surgeons of Punjab after assuming charge as Deputy Chief Minister Punjab, (also Minister incharge of Health and Family Welfare department)  O.P. Soni gave strict directions to the officers of the department regarding providing quality healthcare services to the people of Punjab and further told them to prepare a 100 days roadmap, which he himself would monitor. Chairing the meeting,  Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the various ongoing works of the health department. He said the health department was one of the key department of the state and government was committed to improve the healthcare facilities.  Soni said that special focus will be laid upon improving healthcare services in the rural areas.

He applauded the efforts made by the health staff in fight against covid.

Giving further directions he said that in view of the coming festival season all arrangements should be put in place, timely,  and especially the preparations for the possible third wave of Covid. He instructed to ramp up the health infrastructure and to carry out required procurement as per expected case load. He also directed that there should be no shortage of medicines in the government health facilities. He asked health officials to expedite the pace of covid vaccination testing  so that people in punjab can be safeguarded from covid.

Soni also instructed to take all necessary measures to check the spread of dengue.

On the front of hygiene and cleanliness in the hospitals, he said that Civil Surgeons of the concerned district will be responsible to ensure the same. He further stated that he will pay surprise visits and randomly check the health institutions in the state.

 Soni asserted that there shall be zero tolerance for any kind of corruption and he shall take strict action against any such offender.

 Alok Shekhar Principal Secretary Health while assuring to follow all his instructions stated that Health department will continue to work round the clock in its endeavour to provide quality health services to the people of Punjab.

Mission Director, NHM,  Kumar Rahul, Managing Director, PHSC Amit Kumar,  Additional Secretay Health Ms Amaninder Kaur,  Director Health Services, Dr Andesh Kang,  Director ( Family Welfare) Dr. O.P Gojra, Director Health Services(ESI) Dr. G.B. Singh, Director NHM Dr. Areet Kaur were among the officers present in the meeting.

While responding to the questions of journalists on the announcements made by Arvind Kejriwal Chief minister Minister Delhi,  Soni said

 before making promise of providing health facilities to the people of Punjab, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should ensure that the people of Delhi are provided health facilities in reality,

 Soni said that with the arrival of Delhi residents to take treatment in government and private hospitals in every district of Punjab during the second wave of Covid, it was clear that Arvind Kejriwal was making fake advertisements about health facilities while the reality was Delhi residents were not getting anything in their home state.
