Chandigarh January 7 2025 ; The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) is continuing its campaign against corruption in the state. They arrested deed writer Raj Kumar, also known as Ginni, red-handed. He was accepting a bribe of Rs. 11,000 in the name of Tehsildar.
A spokesperson of the VB disclosed this here today. They announced that authorities have arrested the accused mentioned above.. The arrest is based on a complaint lodged by Gurdeep Singh. Gurdeep Singh is a resident of Sarabha Nagar, Malout city, in Sri Muktsar Sahib district.
Bribe of Rs 11,000 Demanded for Registration Work
Giving further details, he added that the complainant has approached the VB. He informed that he had purchased a land in village Husnar in the name of his wife. He met the above said deed writer for the document preparation. The registration process required these documents.
They submitted the documents in the office of the Joint Sub Registrar Gidderbaha. The accused then mentioned that the Tehsildar has been demanding a bribe. The bribe amount was Rs. 11,000 for getting the registration work done. The complainant recorded the conversation with the deed writer on his phone. This recording was about giving a bribe. It was submitted to the VB as evidence.
The drawer of the Deed Writer office held the recovered land documents.
The spokesperson said a preliminary enquiry of this complaint took place. The team of VB Unit Sri Muktsar Sahib laid a trap. During the trap, they apprehended accused Raj Kumar red-handed. He was accepting a bribe of Rs. 11,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.Authorities recovered the land registry documents from the drawer of the deed writer’s office.
In this regard, the authorities registered a case against the said accused. The case comes under the Prevention of Corruption Act.The VB police station Range Bathinda filed it. Authorities will produce the accused in the competent court tomorrow.. Further investigation of this case was under progress.
