CM launches massive awareness drive ‘Har Shukarvar Dengue te Vaar’ for control of dengue in state
Says state government duty bound to check spread of vector borne disease in wake of massive floods in state
Reiterates commitment for saving the precious lives of people from the disease
Chandigarh, August 4-
In order to prevent the spread of dengue disease in the aftermath of floods Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today launched a special campaign ‘Har Shukarvar Dengue te vaar’ for checking the spread of vector borne disease to save the precious lives of people.
Launching the camp here on Friday, the Chief Minister directed health department to make coordinated efforts to control the spread of disease and lay thrust on awareness among community regarding dengue prevention. He said though the water has receded at most of the places in state but the standing water at several places provides breeding ground for mosquitoes. Bhagwant Mann said that the campaign should focus on making the state mosquitoes free so that dengue can’t spread its wings in Punjab.
The Chief Minister asked the Health department to make elaborate arrangements for stepping up fogging in rural as well urban areas and to enhance manpower for larvae checking. He said that the department must take concrete steps to check the cases of dengue and adequately focus on ensuring prompt medicine to people. Bhagwant Mann said that though dengue case load is very low yet as compared to previous years but still in wake of floods there should be no laxity in terms of efforts being put in to control dengue.
The Chief Minister emphasised that health department should make all-out efforts to control dengue and try its best to provide a safe environment to its citizens. He appealed the people to keep their houses and surroundings clean to avoid spread of dengue virus. Bhagwant Mann on stressed upon the need that the health department is coordinating with other line departments such as school education, rural development,local body department to control the dengue virus.
The Chief Minister said that despite the advancement in the field of medical sciences dengue causes serious challenge to health of people. He said that awareness is a key to control the disease adding that all the stakeholders should continue their efforts against dengue. Bhagwant Mann gave clarion call to people to join hands against dengue and assured state government will take steps on war footing for the success of dengue control campaign.
