Commenting on the decision of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to give a clean chit to Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and senior officials regarding the Fateh Kit procurement scam in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the decision of the Chief Minister proved that he himself was involved in this scam. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Wednesday, Harpal Singh Cheema asked Captain Amarinder Singh why the government had sacked Neeraj Singla, Director (Finance) of the National Health Mission; if there was no scam in the Fateh Kit procurement process. He said that every child of Punjab knew that the Congress government had awarded the tender of Fateh Kit to a garment manufacturing company, which did not have any license to manufacture medical equipment.

Cheema said that the owners of this company were very close to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh; that is why the government had repeatedly issued tenders and bought Fateh Kits worth Rs 837 at a hefty price of Rs 1,338 and robbed the pockets of the people of Punjab. Commenting on the explanation given by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh that the Punjab government was not involved in any wrongdoing, Cheema said that the Congress government had done all wrongdoings during its tenure. “While it is the Covid vaccine sale to private hospitals, Fateh kit purchase scam, corruption in Dalit scholarships by Captain’s ministers and sand, liquor, transport, drug and cable mafias; all are rampant in the Captain government’s rule,” said Cheema.

The AAP leader further said that the Fateh Kit procurement scam should be probed by the present judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, so that all facts will be crystal clear and the truth will reveal itself. Cheema said that it was not justice, but an order of the Chief Minister to give a clean chit to the Health Minister and his favorite officials without any investigation. He said that the people of Punjab were ready to take stock of the corruption and bullying of the Congressmen and would oust the Congress party and Captain Amarinder Singh in the coming Assembly elections.
