Sikh community angry with the silence of Congress's Sikh MPs, MP Sandhu
Chandigarh, March 7 : Challenging Sikh sacrifices by praising Mughal emperor Aurangzeb is intolerable. The Congress Muslim MP Imran Masood, former MP Rashid Alvi and Danish Ali should withdraw their shameful remarks. They made these comments about the valorous history of Sikhs. The Rajya Sabha Chandigarh MP Satnam Singh Sandhu said while addressing the media persons here today. State spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal and state media head Vineet Joshi flanked him.
Sandhu Slams Punjab Congress Sikh Leaders for Silence on Aurangzeb Remarks
sandhu condemned the Punjab Congress Sikh MPs and MLAs for remaining mum over the issue and not having the guts to stand with their own community. He questioned the silence of the Punjab Congress office bearers and spokespersons, who otherwise raise hue and cry even on the smallest of issues.
He added that as per Congress MP & ex MPs, the kind of development that was registered at the time of Aurangzeb was unprecedented. The Congress MP claimed that Aurangzeb was not cruel and he never forced anyone to convert his or her religion. The Congress MPs said that historians had purportedly portrayed Aurangzeb in a negative light, whereas the truth was opposite.
Aurangzeb : Sandhu slams Congress MPs for undermining Sikh history, urges SGPC to act
Sandhu said that Congress MP & ex-MPs want to imply that the supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur holds little significance. The history of Chandni Chowk screams about the injustice Aurangzeb did. Sri Anandpur Sahib, Sri Chamkaur Sahib and Sri Fatehgarh Sahib’s every brick is witness of its tumultuous history. He asked how can the Zafarnama written by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib to Aurangzeb against his oppression, which states the truth, be denied?
He added that if one MP and two ex-MPs of Congress are attempting to uphold the wrong legacy of Aurangzeb, it raises a question. Why can’t seven Congress MPs from Punjab uphold the legacy of Sikhism? Besides the seven Sikh MPs he also appealed to the SGPC to wake up to this wrong assumption. He said that while SGPC opposes even the smallest line against Sikhs in films, it should react. It should issue a statement against this episode. They should protest against hurting of the Sikh sentiments.
Sandhu, Baliawal, and Joshi appealed to the Sikh organizations and Punjabis. They said that Aurangzeb was cruel and a killer. He can never be forgiven. He added that one should raise voice against such wrong statements.
