Chandigarh, February 16 The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab Sibin C held a crucial meeting on Friday with all the Deputy Commissioners-Cum-District Election Officers of the state through video conferencing regarding the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
He urged all the Deputy Commissioners to aim for surpassing a 70 percent vote percentage (iss baar 70 paar) this time. Furthermore, he emphasised the significance of voter turnout, urging citizens to actively participate in the electoral process.
Surpassing 70% Voter Turnout
Sibin C urged all Deputy Commissioners to exceed the target of 70% voter turnout in the upcoming elections. Furthermore, he stressed the significance of identifying and addressing areas with low voter participation. Moreover, he underscored the need to analyze and improve voter engagement in these regions. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of exploring innovative strategies to increase voter turnout in underserved communities.
Utilizing Election Commission Resources
To boost voter turnout, Sibin C recommended using publicity mobile vans, awareness campaigns, and other Election Commission-provided resources. He stressed the need for intensified efforts to motivate citizens to vote.
Ensuring Electoral Integrity
The CEO instructed Deputy Commissioners to verify the voting status of key individuals in their districts and confirmed that assistant returning officers (AROs) underwent training to facilitate smooth elections.
Fair and Transparent Conduct
Sibin C urged all Deputy Commissioners to conduct the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 fairly and transparently, seeking feedback for thorough preparations.
