The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had lost the trust of not only the people of Punjab but also his ministers and therefore, it is not appropriate for Captain to remain the Chief Minister of Punjab and should resign immediately. Bhagwant Mann said that even the absence of Captain’s favorite ministers, at one time, from the Punjab Cabinet meeting proved that not everything was going well in the Congress government of Punjab. Addressing a press conference convened at the party headquarters here on Thursday, AAP state president Bhagwant Mann and party’s Punjab affairs co-incharge Raghav Chadha said that a cabinet meeting of the Punjab government led by Captain Amarinder Singh was held on Wednesday, in which 32 resolutions were tabled by the Chief Minister on various issues but during the meeting, the ministers did not agree with Captain Amarinder Singh and only two resolutions were passed.

Mann and Chadha said that non-passage of 30 bills during the cabinet meeting proved that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had lost the support of his ministers, even though he had already lost the trust of the people of Punjab. The AAP leaders said that it was for the first time in the history of India that the own ministers of the majority government were absent from the Cabinet meeting called by the Chief Minister, which forced the government to withdraw its agenda as the quorum was not met. “Captain Amarinder Singh has abandoned the people of Punjab during the Corona pandemic. The ministers and MLAs of the Congress government are fighting for their seats and are camped at the feet of the Congress High Command in Delhi,” they said.

The leaders said that today, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also went to make his presence at the feet of the Gandhi family. Bhagwant Mann said that the Congressmen had forgotten all the issues like desecration of the Guru, Kotkapura firing, mafia rule and Ghar-Ghar Rozgar, and they were only fighting for their seat. Raghav Chadha said that today, the Congress party in Punjab was on a ventilator and no medicine or vaccine could save the party. “Therefore, voting for the Congress party in Punjab is a waste of one’s vote. Only, the Aam Aadmi Party could represent the people of Punjab in the true sense and in future, people benevolent to Punjab would come together and raise the voice of Punjab,” said Chadha.

On the questions asked about Sukhpal Khaira joining the Congress party, the AAP leaders stated that Khaira had split from the party about two years ago and since then he had formed his own party, but the people rejected him. They said that the Aam Aadmi Party had been repeatedly requesting the Punjab Speaker for dismissal of Sukhpal Singh Khaira from the Assembly, but he did not take any action against him at the behest of the government. The leaders said that Sukhpal Khaira was just pretending to be benevolent to the people, but he had made his intention known by standing with the anti-Punjab party. They said that Sukhpal Khaira had betrayed the Khalra family and the Panth devotees by standing with those responsible for the 1984 massacre.
