Chandigarh, May 8 The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a significant boost in the Doaba region on Wednesday when well-known Dalit leader Rakesh Soman, formerly the Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha, joined AAP. This move dealt a significant blow to the BSP.

AAP Punjab President and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann formally inducted Soman into the party, extending a warm welcome to him into the AAP family.

Rakesh Soman was a senior leader of BSP. Additionally, he has served as the General Secretary of the Punjab Congress Committee. . He has a good hold and popularity among the Dalit people of Hoshiarpur and surrounding areas. Him leaving the party is a jolt to the BSP and his presence is going to be very helpful to AAP in Hoshiarpur.

After joining the Aam Aadmi Party, Rakesh Soman praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s efforts in aiding the poor, Dalits, and marginalized communities.  Impressed by his work of the last two years, I decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party. Ensuring quality education and healthcare for the underprivileged is a noble endeavor. The Mann government is steadfastly making decisions aimed at improving the lives of all segments of society.

During this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized the Aam Aadmi Party government’s consistent dedication to serving the common people. Over the past two years, we have undertaken significant initiatives benefiting the people of Punjab. We have built about 829 Aam Aadmi Clinics for the treatment of common people. Additionally, we are building Schools of Eminence for the education of poor children.

We made 300 units of electricity free every month

He emphasized that our upgraded schools not only boast better facilities but also surpass those of private schools. Additionally, we made 300 units of electricity free every month for the people of Punjab. Consequently, today, about 90 percent of the households in the state are getting zero electricity bills.

He stated that we are seeking votes from the people of Punjab based on our work and receiving full support from them.  Consequently, the people of Punjab are very excited to make the Aam Aadmi Party win in these LS polls too.
