Zila Jathedars, Halqa incharges blast conspiracies to render Panth and Punjab leaderless
Chandigarh June 25 – The Shiromani Akali Dal District Presidents and Halka In charges today lashed out at “deep rooted conspiracies by the enemies of the Panth and Punjab “to divide and weaken the quom and its sole representative party, the SAD, by using “some selfish and opportunistic elements”.
The SAD District presidents and Halka Incharges blasted the govt-inspired and Agencies sponsored conspiracies to render Panth and Punjab “leaderless.”
In separate resolutions passed unanimously by the SAD district presidents and the Halka in charges, the party stated categorically that BJP and govt-agencies “are behind attempts to weaken or break the Shiromani Akali Dal. The resolutions stated that frustrated elements sponsored by the BJP are actively trying to float a parallel party or weaken the party from within, but these efforts will not be allowed to succeed.
The resolutions placed on record the party’s whole heart hearted appreciation of and faith in the “clear headed, far sighted and resolute leadership of the party President Sukhbir Singh Badal.”
As many as 33 out of the existing 35 District Jathedars and 96 out of the existing number of 105 Halqa (constituency) In-charges of the party lauded the leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Of these 33 district presidents, 28 actually attended the meeting while 5 who couldn’t attend had informed the party of their support for the president in writing while expressing their inability to attend because of some family reasons.
At both the meetings, the members expressed serious concern over “the deep rooted conspiracies by the BJP, which is using the central agencies to render the Sikhs leaderless in order to weaken and break up the SAD, with view to controlling Sikh political and religious affairs. The resolutions lauded the stand taken by Badal in refusing to “have an alliance at the cost of Panthic principles and the interests of Punjab and Punjabis.
Members strongly urged the party president to take “strict disciplinary action against those who are “acting as agents of the enemies of the Party, Panth and Punjab and trying to create dissensions and misunderstandings among the Sangat about the party’s anthic agenda. The resolutions also praised the president for standing up to “unprecedented pressures from the powers that be and for refusing to compromise on matters of high principles of Sikh quom, Punjab and the party.
Addressing the meetings, Badal shared personal details of how he had gone out of his ways to accommodate everyone “but nothing is above the interests of the party. My own family comes only after my party,” said Badal.
Talking about the allegation of “uncertainty and confusion about an alliance with the BJP for the Lok Sabha poll,Badal said, “This confusion existed only for those who were keen to have an alliance with the BJP even at the cost of principles and the interests of the of the Khalsa Panth and Punjab. I had categorically clarified to Core Committee before the Lok Sabha poll that I can’t be a party to an unprincipled alliance with BJP. As president of a party that the community has always called its own, I couldn’t have betrayed the Panth, the farmers and the poor and deprived section,” said Mr Badal.
“I cannot allow SAD to become a puppet of anti -Panth designs. Those ready to betray Panth, Punjab, farmers & the deprived sections of the people are free to follow their course,” he added in a reference to those violating party discipline, adding that “SAD is always ready to face tough times for Panth and Punjab.” He said that he and his party stood solidly by Panthic principles.
The district jathedars and halqa incharges appreciated Sukhbir Singh Badal for taking firm and highly principled stand and refusing to have alliance with BJP, declaring that Principles were above politics for him.
Members in the meetings today demanded that the detractors (who have sold their conscience to BJP or and other anti Panth forces) shouldn’t be allowed to come back to the party at any cost.
