Around 7000 donors registered for voluntary Blood donation at 248 camps across Punjab in a single day

Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign to run from 17th September till 1st October

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has launched Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign across India from 17th September 2022 till 1st October (National Voluntary Blood Donation Day-2022). This campaign aims to ““Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”.

Regarding this Spokesperson of Department of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab informed that the Government of India is celebrating the Raktdan Amrit Mahotsav Campaign in connection with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-75 year of Independence. This campaign will run from September 17 to October 1. On the first day of the campaign, the target was to collect around one lakh units of blood from voluntary blood donors through blood donation camps. Spokesperson of Department of Health & Family Welfare said that all the departments of the Government of India and the State Government had been invited to participate in the campaign. Furthermore, he urged all large and small blood donation organizations and voluntary donors to hold more camps and keep donating blood. In this regard, celebrities are also appealing to the public to participate in this holy work of donating blood.

In Punjab, 248 voluntary blood donation camps by 152 blood centers were organised on the first day. 7014 blood donors registered to donate blood and 4963 donated blood, which is a record to date.
