Amritsar Police Busts Trans-Border Heroin Smuggling Ring
The Amritsar Commissionerate Police, under strong leadership, has dealt a significant blow to a sophisticated trans-border narcotics network. This well-coordinated operation resulted in dismantling a heroin smuggling ring, impacting cross-border drug trafficking.
Hailed as a major breakthrough by DGP Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav, the operation led to the arrest of 12 individuals directly linked to the illicit trade. Alongside these arrests, law enforcement officials seized a substantial cache of 4 kilograms of heroin, highlighting the scale of thwarted criminal activity.
Authorities revealed the audacious methods employed by the smugglers, including the use of drones to transport narcotics from Pakistan into India, especially in the Tarn Taran area.
This innovative yet illegal approach, which involved the utilization of drones to ferry narcotics from Pakistan into India, showcased the adaptability and resolve of those involved in perpetrating these criminal acts, demonstrating their willingness to employ sophisticated methods to circumvent law enforcement measures and pursue their illicit activities.
Furthermore, subsequent investigations have unveiled the intricate web of this smuggling syndicate. Authorities have identified a top smuggler based in Malaysia as the mastermind behind the operation. This individual, still at large, has faced implications in multiple drug-related cases, including the infamous 532-kilogram heroin seizure at the International Check Post in Attari in 2019. Identified as Ranjeet Singh, alias Cheeta, of Sarai Amanat Khan, he remains a priority target for law enforcement agencies.
