Amritsar Improvement Trust JE, Clerk Caught Accepting Bribe
Chandigarh February 26 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state has apprehended Jagjit Singh, Junior Engineer and Sanjiv Kumar, Sales Clerk, both posted at Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT) while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
Today, the state VB’s official spokesperson revealed that they arrested the aforementioned officials based on a complaint filed by Inderjit Singh of Nava Kot, Amritsar.

He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB range Amritsar and alleged that said Amritsar Improvement Trust officials were demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 in lieu of issuing no obligation certificate (NOC) regarding ownership of his plot at Railway link road, Amritsar.
The spokesperson stated that following a preliminary investigation of the complaint, a VB team from Amritsar range set a trap in which they caught JE Jagjit Singh and Clerk Sanjiv Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
Today, he elaborated that the VB police station in Amritsar range officially registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and affirmed that they were actively conducting thorough investigations into the matter.
