New Delhi/Chandigarh, August 2 The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member parliament Malvinder Singh Kang, on Friday, raised important issues related to the health sector in the parliament. The AAP MP demanded PGI like medical college and hospital for his constituency Sri Anandpur Sahib. He also asked the Modi government to release Punjab’s pending funds of NHM as soon as possible.
Highlights AAP’s Initiatives in Punjab
Addressing in the parliament, Malvinder Singh Kang said that our sector needs special attention and the government needs to take revolutionary steps to improve this sector. Kang gave examples of the Mann government in Punjab, highlighting that the AAP government runs schemes like Farishtey, where they award people for helping those involved in road accidents.
The government also launched a unique initiative called SSF (Sadak Surkheya Force), which provides specially equipped police vehicles and a trained police force to assist people in road accidents on highways. he further mentioned that the Mann government has opened 829 Aam Aadmi clinics in Punjab, treating 1.75 crore people so far and offering more than 40 free tests, enabling early diagnosis of many diseases.
Kang Urges Central Government to Improve Health Sector Nationwide
Kang said that the central government should bring similar schemes to improve the health sector in the entire nation.
Malvinder Singh Kang said that Punjab’s capital Chandigarh has a PGI but it is over burdened. People from four states and a UT depends on it. He asked for a similar medical college and hospital for his constituency Sri Anandpur Sahib. Kang said that it will be beneficial for the people of Punjab as well as Himachal Pradesh.
AAP Leader Demands NHM Funds and Special Package for Punjab
He also demanded the release of pending National Health Mission fund and said that the central government should give Punjab its 1100 crore rupees as soon as possible. AAP leader further said that our youth goes to countries like Russia and Ukraine for medical studies, we need to develop world class level medical colleges, training and research institutes so that our youth does not have to go far from their homes and country for medical education.
Kang concluded his speech by saying that Punjab, as a border state, faces drug smuggling from the other side of the border with the help of drones. He emphasised that drones should be registered.He added that the Punjab government is helping the addicted youths to get clean, helping them to improve their health and giving them employment to keep them away from drugs. So the central government should give Punjab a special package to tackle the problems of drug smuggling into the state and to help the youth of Punjab to get back on the right track again.
