AAP gains strength in Punjab, BJP leader, FCI Employees Union leader, other political leaders join party

..People are joining AAP due to party’s pro-people policies: Harpal Singh Cheema/Anmol Gagan Maan

Chandigarh, February 6, 2021

Due to pro-people policies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the party’s convoy was increasing day by day. The Aam Aadmi Party got a major boost in Punjab on Saturday when leaders from different parties joined the AAP. In the presence of senior leader of the party and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema and party’s youth wing co-president Anmol Gagan Maan; the BJP Kisan Wing Kapurthala district president Baldev Singh, Food Corporation of India (FCI) Employees Union leader Satinder Singh Chattha, Bahujan Samaj Party leaders Bhola Singh and Lachhman Singh and social worker Simple Nair joined the AAP at the party headquarters here.

Satinder Singh Chattha from Sangrur district is the All India president of the Executive Employees Union of the Food Corporation of India. He has been working for the FCI since 1980 and fought for workers’ rights. In 2016, he also undertook a 24-day hunger strike to provide pension to the FCI employees. Along with him, his associates Balwinder Singh Sarpanch, Bikar Singh Thekedar Dhuri, Kewal Singh, Nita and Charanjit Singh, also joined the party.

Bhola Singh of Sangrur district was the candidate of Bahujan Samaj Party from Dhuri in the 2017 assembly elections and Lachhman Singh was the general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party in Sangrur district. Welcoming those who joined the party, Harpal Singh Cheema said that due to the pro-people policies of AAP, the party’s fleet was growing with a large number of people joining. The leaders who joined the party said that they were impressed by the work being done by the Aam Aadmi Party for the people and decided to join the party. The leaders said that whatever responsibility the party entrusts to them, they would work to strengthen the party with full vigor and devotion.
